Automated label-quality control for BYD production

BYD needed to inspect a large daily label volume without manual sampling, verify that production data was printed correctly and retain traceable results for later investigation.

What the production team needed to control

01

Daily print volume made complete manual inspection impractical.

02

The automated line needed a quality decision that could drive downstream voiding or labelling actions.

03

Printed data needed to be checked against the expected production information.

04

Error records needed to remain searchable when a later label issue was investigated.

Implemented solution

BLC B406-ZT610 with Zebra ZT610

BYD selected BLC B406-ZT610 as its standard inline inspection configuration. BLC inspects every label at the printer exit and supports production-system integration, surface inspection, data verification and result traceability.

Automated line integration

Inspection operates with Zebra ZT610 without removing the original printer functionality.

Defect and data inspection

Rules cover blurred text, misplaced barcodes, torn labels, duplicate values and defined data checks.

Inspection records

Results provide a searchable trail for rapid localisation of a production issue.

Reported outcome

What changed after implementation

  • BLC was incorporated into the automated production line rather than added as a manual sampling step.
  • Duplicate barcode and visible print risks were checked before labels entered downstream operations.
  • Inspection records improved the ability to locate and review label-quality events.
The project converted label printing from an unverified automated step into a traceable inspection process.
